At Galeto Brazilian Steakhouse, every meal is more than just dining—it’s an authentic journey through Brazil’s rich culinary heritage. In pursuit of this dream, the first Galeto Brazilian Steakhouse opened its doors in Oakland, CA, in 2014, bringing the age-old tradition of churrasco to life.

Churrasco Origins
The Gaucho’s Legacy
The story of churrasco dates back over 300 years to the 17th-century Brazilian cowboys, known as gauchos (gah-ooh-shows). These skilled cattlemen developed the art of fire-roasting meats over an open flame using only rock salt for seasoning to enhance the meat’s natural flavors. Whether the first churrasco featured beef ribs or rib-eye, one thing is certain—this culinary breakthrough forever shaped Brazilian cuisine.
